Only a few more weeks to go and then I will be finished my degree. What a crazy adventure it has been. I am exhausted and cannot wait for a much needed break. I am so eager to get back into my sewing room this summer. I may even do some knitting in order to stock up for next winter. I couldn't keep up with the demand this year for scarves due to being so bogged down with school and work.
I am also looking forward to being able to pay proper attention to my garden this summer. My lettuces are almost ready to eat and I may have to plant more if I want a continuing supply throughout spring and summer! I've got bush beans galore and quite a few seedling to put in yet. Some leeks, spring onions and rhubarb seedlings are waiting for me, as well as a whack of calendula and borage to help bring the bees and keep pests away. I've got some wicker baskets full of seaweed and earth for my tomatoes, which I plan on planting with calendula, borage and HEAPS of basil. Talk about companion planting... speaking of basil, I must remember to get some seeds started.
I'm off to a bunch of appointments now, so the garden (and basil) will have to wait... but not too long now. It's just hard not being in there all day with the amazing sunshine and heat we have been getting all week long. I must remember to use that will power that comes so naturally to me (not!)
Here are a few photos of the garden taken last week. It's amazing how much it has already grown since I took them. I may have to do a photo essay of it throughout the season, as each day there is a new flower growing or a new leaf on the leccuce and kale.
