Something I have wanted to try for quite some time is felting. I got a heap of this merino fibre for spinning a while ago and it was unfortunately unspinnable. It feels partially felted already so I thought I would just dye it in different lots and do some felting projects with it.
Some fibre well worth spinning is the gorgeous hand dyed merino tops from Jessicah at Spinning a Yarn. She sent me some of this beautiful red and purple merino that is gorgeous to spin! I had a bit left that I thought I would incorporate into a felted scrap scarf along with my munted merino that happens to felt up beautifully.
Jessicah also hand dyes the most stunning 50/50 merino/silk 2ply yarn which has to been one of the softest yarns ever and it is a great price too!
I got the scrap scarf project from Heavenly Wools. There are also some gorgeous hand dyed merino tops for sale for spinning and felting. The scarf was really easy to make and didn't even take that long. Here are some photos. Unfortunately my camera seems to make the colours a bit cool so it is hard to see all of the different tones in the darker fibre:
